My teenager asked, "Why do little kids like to come to the zoo so often? It’s the same every time." I responded, "But they're not."
Why do we revisit the gospel stories again and again? They're the same every time. But we're not.
"The disciples of Jesus recounted what had taken place along the way,and how they had come to recognize him in the breaking of bread." Luke 24:35
It's the same old story. The disciples didn't recognize Jesus, as he drew near and walked with them. When he broke bread, their eyes were opened, and they realized that their hearts were burning, as he spoke to them.
What's new in you as you reflect on this story this Easter season? How has Jesus drawn near and walked with you? When have your eyes been opened? How has your heart burned with his love?
The story's the same; we're not.
